Translucent Adhesive Vinyl: Buying Guide

AV 3 adhesive translucent vinyl is a 3 mil printed vinyl made for lit displays. Its permanent adhesive sticks best to flat plexi, acrylic, lexan, glass and other clear or translucent plastics, so it is used for light boxes, channel letter faces, window displays and point of purchase displays.

Choose single layer printing for graphics seen mostly in daylight (colors lighten when lit at night), or double layer printing for graphics seen at night in a light box (colors look darker unlit). It is indoor and outdoor safe, up to 52" high by 159' wide.

Artwork & file setup

  • Upload a JPEG or a single-page PDF, up to 300 MB, built at the exact size you order. Artwork at a different size is scaled to fit.
  • Use CMYK color, convert Pantone and spot colors to CMYK, and outline your fonts. Raster images need 150 dpi at full size.
  • Leave off crop marks and bleed. Double sided items take one file per side unless the template says otherwise.
  • Double layer prints look darker than your artwork when they are not lit; that is normal and they brighten in a light box.

Care & handling

Apply the graphic to a clean, dry, smooth surface; dust, wax and moisture weaken the adhesive. Clean it afterward with a soft cloth and mild soapy water, without abrasives or solvents.

Single or double layer?

Single layer for daytime viewing; double layer for night viewing with a light box behind it.

Why does the print look dark?

Translucent vinyl is printed with heavy ink so it glows correctly when lit. Without backlighting, it looks darker than your artwork.

Is there a non-adhesive version?

Yes, backlit film is a 10 mil translucent film for light boxes that hold the graphic in place.

What surfaces does it stick to?

Flat, clear or translucent plastics such as acrylic, plexi and lexan, and glass. The permanent adhesive is made for long term outdoor use.

When will my order ship?

Order and approve your artwork by 12 pm Pacific time and it ships the same business day. By 4 pm, it ships the next business day; after 4 pm, allow one more business day. Then it travels by the shipping speed you choose at checkout.
