18oz Blockout Banner: Buying Guide

The 18oz blockout banner is our heavy weight vinyl. PVC vinyl faces on the front and back sandwich a blockout layer, and scrim fibers reinforce the whole sheet, so it stands up to tough outdoor conditions and stops light, and the opposite side, from showing through.

That makes it the right banner for double sided jobs: both sides are printed on one single-ply banner and each reads cleanly. It is the usual material for street and light pole banners. Single sided banners go up to 10' x 145' (9.5' x 145' with pole pockets) and can be welded larger; double sided banners go up to 9.5' x 145'. Hems are free, and you can add grommets, pole pockets, Velcro, webbing with D-rings, sewn-in rope or reinforced corners.

Production & shipping

  • Order and approve your artwork by 12 pm Pacific time and it ships the same business day. By 4 pm, it ships the next business day; after 4 pm, allow one more business day. Orders of more than 100 pieces need two extra business days.
  • Printed to order in Renton, Washington, and shipped to all 50 states.
  • At checkout, choose standard shipping (3–6 business days) from $18, 3-day, 2-day or overnight delivery. Orders of $100 or more ship free on the standard schedule.
  • Pickup isn’t available; every order ships to you. See shipping & returns for details.

Artwork & file setup

  • Upload a JPEG or a single-page PDF, up to 300 MB, built at the exact size you order. Artwork at a different size is scaled to fit.
  • Use CMYK color, convert Pantone and spot colors to CMYK, and outline your fonts. Raster images need 150 dpi at full size.
  • Leave off crop marks and bleed. Double sided items take one file per side unless the template says otherwise.

Care & handling

Clean the print with mild soap, water and a soft cloth, and skip solvents and pressure washers. Let the banner dry fully before you store it, then roll it with the printed side facing out and keep it somewhere dry. Using every grommet when you hang it spreads the load and helps prevent tears.

Why choose a blockout banner?

A regular banner lets some light through, so a banner in front of a window, or one with print on both sides, can show a shadow of the other side. The blockout layer prevents that.

Can a double sided banner be oversized?

No. Double sided banners go up to 9.5' x 145'. Welded oversized banners are single sided only.

How is it shipped?

Banners 89" or larger on their shortest side ship folded; banners 88" and under ship rolled.

What size pole fits the pole pocket?

A 2" pole pocket fits a pole up to 1" in diameter, a 3" pocket fits up to 1.5", and a 4" pocket fits up to 2".

When will my order ship?

Order and approve your artwork by 12 pm Pacific time and it ships the same business day. By 4 pm, it ships the next business day; after 4 pm, allow one more business day. Then it travels by the shipping speed you choose at checkout.
