Front Lit Channel Letters: Style Guide

Front lit letters are lit from inside and shine through a colored acrylic face, so the whole face of each letter glows. It is the brightest, most readable style at night and the classic look for storefront signs.

How they’re built

  • Colored acrylic face held by a trimcap
  • .040 aluminum returns
  • LED modules and a power supply inside each letter
  • Optional raceway for mounting and wiring

Best for

Retail stores, restaurants, convenience stores and any business that needs to be read from the road or across a parking lot after dark.

Sizes and ordering

Available with letters from 8 to 45 inches tall. Prices start at $133.20 for one 8 inch letter, before options such as a power supply or raceway. Compare every style and height in our channel letter cost guide. Production & shipping

  • Built to order in Washington and California, tested before it ships, and shipped to all 50 states.
  • At checkout, choose standard shipping (3–6 business days) from $50, 3-day, 2-day or overnight delivery; your estimated ship date is shown there too. Channel letter orders of $1,000 or more ship free on the standard schedule.
  • Inspect the boxes before you sign for them. If the packaging is damaged, check the letters, file a claim with the carrier and email TR@StorefrontSignOnline.com or call 866-436-2101.

Installation

We build, test and ship your sign; we don’t install. A licensed electrician or sign installer near you mounts and connects the letters using the wiring diagram and mounting pattern that come with them. See how to install channel letters and sign permits before you schedule the work.

5-year warranty

All 7 channel letter styles are covered against defects in materials and workmanship for five years from the date they ship. If something goes wrong, contact us before any repair work: repairs made without telling us first void the warranty. A covered sign is repaired, or replaced with an equivalent product. Damage from storms and other acts of nature, accidents, vandalism, misuse, or improper installation or care is not covered. Read the full channel letter warranty.

Front Lit Channel Letters questions & answers

How long does production take?

Standard letters from 16" to 24" tall are usually finished in 2–4 business days. Adding vinyl to the faces or ordering oversize letters can take longer. Your estimated ship date shows at checkout.

What are the size limits?

A shaped letter or logo can be up to 58.5" x 136". The thinnest stroke must be at least 2"; very thin parts of a logo may need to be adjusted before production, which can add cost or time.

What artwork should I send?

A vector file at your final size, with shapes simplified and colors in CMYK. Exact color matching is not guaranteed. For a logo or complex graphic, send it to a sign specialist for a quote.

Is installation hardware included?

The letters ship with a wiring diagram and a mounting pattern, and the installation guide lists the fasteners to use; the fasteners themselves are not included. An 8 ft, 3-outlet 120V extension cord can be added to your order.

Replaced our old cabinet sign

Swapped out an old box sign for front-lit channel letters on a raceway. What a difference. The storefront looks modern and professional now. Should have done this years ago.

Fast proof, fast shipping

Had a proof in my inbox the next day and the sign shipped faster than I expected. Letters are bright and the white LEDs look crisp. Great experience for a first-time sign buyer.

Ordered for all three locations

After the first sign came out so well we ordered the same letters for our other two stores. Consistent color and quality across all three. Makes our brand look unified.

Even lighting and strong build quality

The letters are well built and light up evenly. The color looks great on our storefront, especially at night. Very happy with the finished sign and overall quality.

Passed city permit on first try

They provided the UL-listed documentation and drawings our city needed for the permit. That alone saved us weeks. The sign itself looks great and has run nonstop for months with no issues.
